My Story

I'll never forget the day my life began to change. As a kid, I was the one who was always picked last for team sports, the one who lingered at the back of the class, hoping not to be seen. Laughter followed me down hallways, not the joyful kind, but the kind that stings and sticks. I was trapped in a cycle of unhealthy choices and the weight of bullying on my shoulders was heavier than any pounds I carried.

Then came that moment in class that is etched in my heart forever—the day I tried to squeeze between two desks and couldn't. A classmate snickered, "You're not that fat, just fit through," loud enough for laughs to ripple through the room. When I looked up, I saw my teacher chuckling, and that chuckle felt like a closing door.

But that's when something inside me sparked to life. It wasn't just about shedding weight anymore; it was about proving that I was more than their laughter, more than the space I couldn't fit through. I started small, trading chips for carrots, short walks turned into jogs, and with every step, I was moving away from the person I used to be. I began to see myself not as the person they saw, but as the person I wanted to become.

It was a journey of falls and rises, of days when salads looked bland and running felt like dragging chains. Yet, I kept pushing, because the taste of pride was sweeter than any junk food. As my body grew stronger, so did my resolve to not just change my story, but to be the voice for those who still sat in silence, swallowed in shadows.

Today, my mission extends beyond myself; it's a promise to every kid who feels lost in the shuffle, every child who's met with cruel laughter. I found my way through, and now I want to light that path for others. Because I remember the pain, but I also know the power of transformation and the freedom that comes with taking back your own narrative.
